Blog 18 – Classifying the factors of production

Classify the factors of production on the basis of the first two points listed above (tangible and intangible, mode of participation in the productive combination), for the YouTube videos you discussed in Blog 3.

106 comments:

  1. Tangible factors of production: the ingredients (green anise, grande wormwood, phenyl, mint and camomile, alcohol made from white grapes), all the machineries in the company buildings (pumps, tubes, copper stills, glass bottles, thermometers and so on), water and pressurized steam
Intangible factors of production: the labour made by workers, their knowledge and skills in order to complete the production processes
Factors usable in one productive cycle: the ingredients such as green anise, grande wormwood, phenyl, mint and camomile, alcohol made from white grapes, water
Factors usable in more productive cycles: all the machineries in the company buildings (pumps, tubes, copper stills, glass bottles, thermometers and so on), pressurized steam, the workers' labour and their knowledge

  2. In "How is made hot-dogs" the tangible factors of production are the meat, the seasonings, the machineries and all the other equipments, while the intangible one is the labour. Furthermore, the non-durable factors of production are the meat, the seasonings and the labour, while the durable ones are the machineries and equipments.

In "How is made Lego" the tangible factors of production are the pieces of plastic and the several machines, while the intangible factor of production is just the labour of the designers to invent new forms in which rearrange the bricks. In addition, the non-durable factors of production are the pieces of plastic and the labour, while the durable ones are the machineries.

  5. In the Blog 3 I discussed about the Lego's circuit of production.

    Tangible factors of production:
    Plastic
    Varnish in different colors
Several and different machineries settled in the factory which select and assemble all the plastic parts
Pressured guns to varnish the toys in details
Computer and other devices used to follow step by step the entire process of production, including counting and selection
Other machineries used to box up all the components for the market packaging
Designer tools to give a final touch to some special parts of the toys.

    Intangible factors of production

Specialized workers who manage and oversee the operational efficiency of the machineries.
Software used by designers and graphic engineers to design every single aspect of the toys.
Professional figures involved in the creative process of the toys.

The entire circuit of production is a perfect combination of systemic and creative methods. The know-how skills of the entire employees team is necessary to correct, optimize and refine with creativity all the parts of the toys produced in sequence by the machineries. All the tools presents in the factory are used with great skill and accuracy by the specialized workers.

  10. How it's made - Lego

    Tangible factors of production:

    - Flexible plastic in many shapes and sizes (not PVC or other toxic plastic, Lego uses eco-plastic in order to take care also of the environment)
    - Eco-Varnish in several and different colors
    - Machineries to select, assemble and distribute the pieces
    - Robotic arms and converior belts
    - Computers and other devices which control and organize step by step the production thanks to a particular software
    - Machineries which box up the toys after the assembly
    - Pressure paint-gun to refine the toys in details
    - Tons of non-toxic glue to advantage the assembly of the pieces

    Intangible factors of production:

    - Specialized workers whom correct and oversee the machineries during the process of production
    - Professional designers engaged in the creative process of the toys
    - Engineers that support the efficiency of the machineries and the software used to run them
    - Managers operating in the marketing settled to prepare effective commercials

    Durable factors of production:

    - Machineries
    - Software
    - Computers and devices
    - Brand
    - Property
    - Equipment and tools to refine the product

    Non-durable factors of production:

    - Eco-Varnish
    - Plastic

During the entire circuit of production we can notice a perfect sinergy between the tangible and intangible factors; the machineries and the tools are always controlled and managed by the specialized workers whom sent the unpolished pieces to the designers which refine them thanks to their acquired skills and knowledges.

In "How is made wine" the vineyard, the grapes, the building, the machineries (pressure machine and the fermentation one) and more in general all the equipment are the tangible factors of production. The labour made by workers, the experts, the researchers who are trying to raise the quality of wine every year are the intangible factor pf production.
Grapes' juice, water, sugar, bottles can be use just once in the productive cycle but all the others, so the human and intellectual capital and all the machineries can be use over time.
