Using the framework of the Business Model contained in Table 8, describe what are the inputs (e.g. type of manufactured capital; intellectual capital; human capital; nature capital) shown at least in one of the following videos:
a) “How is made hot-dogs”
b) “How is made honey”
c) “How is made baseball”
d) “How is made Lego”
e) Find in YouTube an “How is made” video
In the transformation process of hot dogs the inputs are: different types of meet leftovers (natural capital); salt and flavorings (natural capital); several machineries (manufactured and, I think, also intellectual capital); supervision of some people (human capital); the money that the organization has used to purchase all these things (financial capital).
ReplyDeleteWhile in the making of Lego the different capitals are: plastic and many machines that make all the job (manufactured capital); designers that think of new ways to put the bricks together (human capital); and also here the money to buy all these things (financial capital).
1. How is made- hot dogs:
ReplyDeleteThe inputs describes in the video are:
-Leftovers of pork, chicken and beef meat.
-Food starch
-Salt and other spices and flavors
-Water
-Corn syrup
-Liquid smoke
-Cellophane
-Machinery
-Employees
For my opinion, all above is belonging to more then one capital, because the humans were choosing the resources that will answer to their needs during the years. there is no "ingredient" (inputs) that the human didn't processed for his needs. for example the corn syrup, the corn is made by nature, but the human has processed it and turned it into a syrup so it will be more effective to use instead of the natural form. even the water, if it was not potable, how it can be used for human needs?

Then, the two half blocks, combine, forming one solid block of glass. The personnel (HUMAN CAPITAL) then verifies that every single block of glass attain to each standard (size, weight and resistance) by running various tests.

"How is made Lego"
ReplyDeleteJudging by the inputs shown in the video that explains the way of production of the Lego's factories:
1) The manufactured capital is invested into the plastic granules and machine's work because all of the production process is made by a non-human hand.
2) The intellectual capital is fundamental for the creation process of new Lego's products and that's why the company has a lot of engineers that always think about how to put bricks together and create new stimulating models.
3) Basically the most important human capital inside the company is represented by the design engineers, but there are also other important role as the final supervisors that takes care about the finished product that will go in the market.
4) The financial capital, obviously, is crucial here because it's the gear that guarantees money to buy and pay all these things and people.

How it's made - golf ball
ReplyDeleteThe process takes place in a factory (example of manufactured and intellectual capital) where bouncy rubber(ex. of manufactured capital) is mixed with other chemicals to form a hot mass. Through the steel drums that roll and cool the rubber and the extruder machine where rubbery sheet are shaped into slugs, the conveyor belt transports the slugs into a compression mold machine where workers (ex. of human capital, intellectual capital) position them to shape and cook. Workers then place over the steel mold a slotted Plexiglas to hold down the left over trimming. Solid golf ball core are now picked up by vacuum. A robot transports the balls into another mold to form the outside shell. The ball elevator takes them to the automatic miller to clean the plastic in excess. A robotic arm takes them to the quality checkpoint and then to the stamping machine that brands each ball. When the golfballs are dry, they are ready.
