Blog 6 – The attribute of Economicità
1) After reading the article “Henry Ford and the model T” (please click here to download it), analyse the effectiveness and the efficiency of Ford Motor Company, before and after the year 1924. For instance, after 1924 was Ford Motor Company both effective and efficient? Or effective but not efficient or efficient but not effective? Why?
2) After watching the YouTube video you discussed in Blog 3, do you have the elements to evaluate the strategic effectiveness of the economic entity? Why?

1) Ford's company hadn't always been effective and efficient. The production of Model T started at the beginning of the 20th century and it was totally effective. Ford reached his aim producing the Model T, but he wanted to build cars "for the multitude". Because of the high price the flivver was not affordable for everybody. He decided to increase the salary of the employees and to reduce the price of the cars. In one year he doubled his income even if he reduced the profit margin.
ReplyDeleteWe can say that Ford's company gradually became more and more efficient over the years.
2) in the video "how is made bubble gum" I think that the factory is already effective because it reaches its aim. It is also efficient because it hasn't any waste of the supplies and the production process is shortened as much as possible.
1. In my opinion Ford´s company was both effective and efficient, because he didn´t only pursue his dream but at the same time he was trying to make his vehicles more beneficial and affordable to all members of middle class society, including the employees. He wasn´t just considering to maximize his profit but he was working for social well-being.
ReplyDelete2. In the video ¨how its made cheese¨ the production of cheese is made step by step through the machinery that transforms the milk into cheese in a short time, basically the quality of milk will determine the quality of cheese, so the quality of cheese has to be rigidly controlled by the lab, which will increas both effectiveness and efficiency.
1. At the beginning of 1900s, Henry ford managed to introduce an effective inexpensive model, model T, which satisfied the needs of medium/low class citizens who could not afford the Model N or other automobiles due to their expensive price tag ‘‘I’m going to democratize the automobile”. During that period Henry ford repeatedly achieved efficiency in number of ways. Firstly he chose to use the vanadium steel that provided 170,000 pounds of tensile strength (they were not available in america during that period), instead of the finest steel alloys only provided 60,000 pounds of tensile strength that ordinary american car manufacturers used. Secondly the wages offered by Ford were extremely low at 2.38 dollars an hour, that lead to cost minimization, and efficiency, however later on the wages increased 5 dollars alongside profit sharing schemes for workers which actually lead to further productivity and efficiency, hence described by henry ford as “finest cost-cutting moves we ever made,’’ The third method of achieving efficiency for ford was the ability to produce cars from raw material in the span of just forty-one hours, which set a record. However closer to the year 1927 and further on, despite of achieving effectiveness, ford’s company became less efficient due to the conflict of interest among the shareholders, that led to management issues. Also as the time progressed they also became less effective due to the introduction of the General Motors cars and Cadillacs that had similar prices to model T, however they had more added features and hence satisfied more needs.
ReplyDelete2. In the video How its Made Blackboards I can see the strategic effectiveness due to the nature and history of the product and how it has been an inseparable part of the traditional education system, however now the tablets and electronic devices are beginning to replace them, reducing the effectiveness of blackboards.

1)Ford Motor Company rappresents the first car firm that allowed “normal” people to buy a car.
ReplyDeleteThis company was, surely, also the first to operate with effectiveness and efficiency in that enviromnent. In fact, concernig the former, Ford reduced the work hours (from 12 to 6) and the employee’s number using and improving the assembly line. Moreover that condition allowed cheaper prices and the shares increased a lot. Instead, concernig the efficiency, Henry Ford has been the first to create a car that could meet the common people needs. Car became a necessity.
On the other hand he made several mistakes after 1924. In fact he decided to not invest in innovation, while other companies were taking place with new ideas. Moreover he put his son (instead of a professional manager) as chief of the company.
After 1924 Ford was still effectiveness bui it was not efficacy because it met the new human needs anymore.
2)After watching the video ( how is made honey ) I cannot totally say if the company is working with effectiveness because I can see that the company is not wasting resources but some machinery are out of date and that in some parts of the production there could be inserted new ones.

Effectiveness and efficiency of Ford' Model T. From the beginning, the production of Model T was almost effective since Ford managed to produce that type of car he has always dreamed. Even though, the efficiency wasn't enough. in Ford's projects Model T should have been affordable by all the citizens in spite of what was happening in a first moment: the price was was too high and just the richest could afford the car. This problem was overcame by the time, thanks to another progress that was made and which increased the productivity and the efficiency that is the reduction of the time of production with the production line work.To subsidize also the efficiency of the workers, their salary was increased from 2..38$ to 5$.
ReplyDelete2 The video I've analyzed in the blog 3 is about the production of pencils. I believe that effectiveness of this firm has already been achieved. The efficiency instead could be increased hiring more employees with the role of checking the quality of each pencil.
1)When Ford Motor company was created in 1903 there were a lot of investors and it didn't act with effectivness and efficienty because they just wanted to maximize their profit increasing cars' prices. This is the reason why Malcomson was forced to sell his shares in the company. Starting from that moment Henry decided to take a part of the control of the company( in 1907 )and he promised to the Nation that he would build a car for everyone. That was the Ford Model T. It represented the American Dream because everyone ,starting from that moment, could buy a car. But Henry Ford decided to sacrificed profit to increase sales and it went against the economicità because the company acted with effectiveness but not with efficiency. In fact workers wages were unacceptable and they were victims of the assembly line's alienation. He didn't increase their productivity he just destroyed it because the most important thing was to increase sales. He was just to fascinated by his Model T that he couldn't act with effectiveness too because time passed and his model didn't satisfy the new human needs. In fact he stopped the production of Model T in 1927 to solve the problem.
ReplyDelete2) In the video How is made olive oil we can see how they operate with effectiveness because they start with their input that are olives and, thanks to their efficienty, they produce the oil that will satisfy milions of customers.

"He had to build not only a new factory but a new system within that factory"- production increased by 100%. In 1910 the company produced around 19000 cars and in only two years the production increased enormously (78440 cars in 1912).
ReplyDeleteI think that the years between 1910 and 1912 are the turning point of the Ford Motor Company and the key to understand the changes in the relationship between efficiency and effectiveness.
I believe that from 1903 to 1910 the Ford Motor Company operated with strong efficiency (for instance the azienda was able to achieve ah high level of production using quality materials9. However Hanry Ford knew that he wasn't operating with real effectiveness because his cars where still too expensive so he couldn't satisfy the expectations of the customers that couldn't afford his cars.
In order to increase the effectiveness H.Ford "continuously sacrificed profit margins to increase sales (profit per car in 1909 was 202 pounds, in 1914 was about 99 pounds), also the assembly time for model T changed (only 5 hour and 50 minutes).
I suppose that after the years 1912-1914 Ford Motor Company started the long way to become both effective and efficient. of course the company had a lot of problems, in particular when Hanry Ford lost his effectiveness (as regards Model T that was no longer suitable to the market) and by consequence he had to stop the production of this model (in 1927)
I strongly believe that Ford Motor Company operated for most of the time with both efficiency and affectiveness and for this reason it became one of the most important and afficient aziende of the world.
2) In the video "How is made handmade paper" we can see how the artisans of paper work with effectiveness creating paper that meets the needs of the customer. They also carry out efficiently their production assuring acceptable working conditions for the employees, a responsible behavior towards environmen and so on.
1. After reading the document about Ford, I can infer that the life of this firm could be divided in many steps: at the beginning his revolutionary project was so exciting for the masses that people immediately felt the need to buy this new mens of transport, also pushed by the fact that Henry Ford kept on reducing the prices of this item. So his firm was effective, indeed. But the workers were not so happy about their low wages and as a consequence, Henry Ford was able to increase them thanks to the huge income he got from the selling of his cars. As the time went by, and after a crisis in 1924 due to the heavy competition with the other car companies, Ford learnt how to be efficient as well.
ReplyDelete2. In the video "How sugar is made", it is visible that the production of sugar is efficient: it is necessary to use sugar canes, that are natural capitals, so in the course of time they grow again and the production begins every time. From what I saw, the machines do not even pollute the environment, and there is no need of a huge number of workers, that, I suppose, may well paid since they are mainly expert techinicians. I cannot actually state nothing more but these assumptions since, to my mind, these are the only statements that can be inferred from the video.

ReplyDelete1)The Ford Motor Company, in the first twenty years of the 20th century ,created cars with more efficiency than effectiveness because it concentrated on high production selling its cars with low prices in the market in order to have more buyers and extend his fame. Basically, each detail of production was controlled and they ''held 60 percent of the new-car market''.
ReplyDeleteLately, after 1924 Ford faced new competitors that developed new cars that where suitable for the newer people's demand of needs and wants.
The Ford Company declared the end of Model T production that was created with efficiency replacing it with a new model called Model A, that has a new strategy. From that moment, it started to produce with both effectiveness and efficiency in the sense that they added design quality(luxury and comfort) to their cars with a same high standard of production.
2) In my opinion, the video that I've chose (How is made drinkable water) perfectly represents the concept of effectiveness. It fact, drinkable water production it is something necessary that satisfies people's needs and the resources are well employed to achieve their final product. For example, all the pumps in the sea,the chemical elements in order to get clearer water and so on.In addition, it grants a primary service for the citizens.
1. Henry Ford, the foundator of Ford Motor Company, from the first years of 20th century in USA,developed the industry of car, that became a good for the multitudine, changing American lifestyle. Beginning in 1903,with the production of 1700 Model T cars, the price was very high. So the company was effective but not efficient. Ford decided then to reduce prices in order to reach his aim to make car for everybody, with the assent of some investitors, producing a cheaper Model N. In 1908,Ford M. C. saled the first Model T,less expensive than the first, made with finest steel. The trades raised up from year to year. Ford was also the inventor of the division of the assembly process. The employeers' salary was increased, with a minimum fixed wages of five dollars for hour. Between 1914 and 1916 company's profit doubled from $30 million to $60 million, even if the prices were reduced. The 'azienda' was effective but also efficiency til 1924,when Chevrolet improved its development. In 1926,the market of Model T plummed and Ford's factories remained closed for six months, until the recovery. Even if a numerous difficults, Ford M. C. survived to the crise of 1929 (this is why, this company with General Motor and Chevrolet were called The Big Three). Ford is considered not only one of the best businessmen in the history, but also a genious,an hero, even today. He democratized the automobile.
ReplyDelete2. In the Youtube's video "How is made Nutella" I think that the strategic effectiveness of this company is to satisfy the culinary WANTS or TREAT of people. Nutella is purchased by millions of people that want satisfy their desideres.Effectively, humans don't need to eat chocolate. Only the instinct lead people to buy it,but Nutella knows how to arrive in the earth of us (at all ages) with its heavenly taste.
1. Ford's company, before 1924, was effective. the company was producing cars in a vey high level and in affordable prices that everybody wanted, and everybody had it and could afford it. until 1921 the producing of ford cars was only effective, but from 1921 it began to be also efficient thanks to the factory in river rouge. in 1924, ford understood that he needed to give something new to the pubic because there was a new cars around, so he's company in that time wasn't effective and also not efficient because he send everybody home and stopped the producing of cars. only after the planning of a new model the factory came back to work, or in another words, it has become effective and efficient again.
ReplyDelete2. In the film "how is made hot dog", the strategic effectiveness of the economic entity is very good because the factory is also efficient. is produces hot dogs in high quantity in in a very short time. thanks to the production line that has been programed very well to create this type of products.
1. Ford company, from the start, lacked enough efficiency and enough effectiveness, until some important moves of Henry Ford . For example, He and his company were at a point in 1906, that they needed a serious change and plan to help the business survive. Because Henry Ford felt that the firm is not "effective" enough, because he thought customers need a cheaper car to purchase. so, this was the idea behind introducing a new model of cars, N .
ReplyDeleteThen , to make his company more " efficient" , he started importing a special kind of steel that no one in America knew of. it made the cars lighter and more useful. He then added even more effectiveness to the company by reducing the prices continuously over the years of production and in my idea it was his winning card. "sacrificing the profit in order to sell more" that was wise of the company in that time.
After 1924, Ford found some competitors that were more effective for the market, so it was left behind. in this case, I can say it was efficient but not effective.
2. I think a possibility of evaluating the effectiveness of the business entity I've mentioned before, is to send someone to casinos and clubs where card games are played. and to see how many percent of the cards come from the company that we focused on.Of course playing cards is not a primary need of humans, but it meets "want"s of numerous people all around the world.
1) Ford Motor Company was not always eccient and effective infact at the beginning it was not neither effective nor efficient, infact when the firm started to produce cars, these were sold at high price and the costs of production were very low thanks to very low salaries of the workers. In a second time the firm changed its strategy, it reduced the price of its products, so it had an increasing of sales but it had to sacrify profit. A new strategy took the firm to increase the salary of workers in order to improve their well-being and as a consequence having an increase of productivity. In this way the firm become efficient and effective.
ReplyDelete2) In the youtube video "how fireworks are made" we can see that from the black pouder are made fireworks and so the production in effective because it satisfies the entertainment need of some people. To see is the firm works with efficiency we have just to think about how many fireworks are made in a day, but from that video we can just suppose that thanks to machinery and workers the number of them should be very high.
1- Before 1924 Ford was both effective and efficient, because it met all the needs of the customers (that Ford himself created) and it got the most outputs out of the least amount of inputs, thanks to the assembly line and all improvements made to the production process. After 1924 For Motor Company wasn't more neither effective (because people's needs were now met by Chevy) or efficient (because he had overproduction that didn't bring him anywhere).
ReplyDelete2- I don't really have the elements to evaluate and analyse the companies that produce absinthe's effectiveness because in the video there are no actual statistics about the demand and the revenues of the company. We can for sure assume that the company is meeting people needs because absinthe nowadays is still being sold, but why don't know in what quantity and quality it is doing so.
1. I think Ford Motor Company was both effective and efficient .Firstly, the company reduce the price to help people can afford the car.In the one hand, the company can get enough customers. In the other hand, the company can open the sales market to make more money.Secondly,Ford Motor Company not only pay attention to their own interests, but also pay more attention to the employees. This can let the company to improve the high productivity. Finally, the company can get high profit. And that's why i think it was both effective and efficient.
ReplyDelete2.In the video"how is made pizza",the company show us it was effective and efficient.Because the factory by through the machine instead of workers. It can reduce the worker's fees. And it is a good way to improve the company's profit.
1) In the first years of Ford, his cars surely satisfied the customers's needs but, at the same time, they were sold at high prices, so they were not available for the majority of the population. I suppose that in 1903 Ford worked with effectiveness without efficiency. But when the model "T" came out, Ford Motor Company met the people's need ensuring, at the same time, a price more lower. So, until 1924, Ford's cars dominated the market, thanks to a business activity conducted with effectiveness and efficiency.
ReplyDeleteAfter 1924, with the rise of GM, Ford was not able to offer a competitive car against the new Chevrolets. Probably, in this occasion Ford Motor Company worked with the same efficiency of the past, but lost his effectiveness on the market. This led to a failure that caused the end of the model "T". Finally, from 1927 Ford came back strongly in the market with the model "A", that started a new bright period for the firm.
2) I think that is not possible for me to evaluate the effectiveness of the firm that produces blackboards because I actually do not know how much are their profits. I mean, obviously blackboards satisfy certain human needs, but I do not know how much costumers are satisfied for the goods of the business entity present in the video.
1)Before 1924, Ford was not both efficient and effective. Since 1924, under the motto "Real progress happens Only When advantages of a new technology become available to everybody," Henry Ford began to lower the cost of the car that led to an exponential growth in sales (effective!), So to have a return 40% starting from 10% (efficient!) and to raise the salaries of employees. From this moment the company Ford became perfect: effective and efficient, he respected the human side of the production and was leader of the automotive market.
ReplyDelete2) After the video "how is made a computer" i can say that it's surely effective, but i don't know if it's also efficient because i don't know the company's costs about employer, machinaries and so on.. and the final price. I could suppose yes, because nowadays it's impossible survive on the market for a private firm without be both efficient and effective.
1. During the first years of the Ford Motor Company, Henry Ford managed both to meet the needs of the "great multitude" and to improve continually the assembly line of production. Against stakeholders' opinion, Ford, insisting that high prices slowed market expansion, preferred reduce the cost of his cars making it affordable for everyone. The growth of demands forced him to change the old method of production so that he developed the "men-high" line where the workers could repeat their tasks without moving their feet. Moreover Ford wanted to create values also for his employees introducing a program of bonuses and generous benefits. However after 2014 Ford did not understand the importance of creating new products that would be competitive in the market so that his company lost its effectiveness and failed.
ReplyDelete2. The video "how it's made clothespins" shows the production's process of wooden clothespins: the company, through a series of different machines, manages to produce a large quantity of goods but the processing time of wood is very long. In my opinion clothespins can result always useful (effectiveness) but they might change the material, using for example plastic, that is easier to transform (efficiency).
ReplyDelete1) Before the year 1924 Ford Motor Company was characterized for its effectiveness and efficiency (except the first years during which Herny Ford designed the Ford T in his house), for the intuition of Henry Ford to build "motorcar fot the great multitude", and thanks to invention of moving assembly line. After the 1924 Ford wasn't no more the firm that was at the beginning, because it was not go ahead, on the contrary of its competitors, like Chevrolet.
2) After seeing the How it's mad Guitar I have not enough information to evaluate the strategic effectiveness of the firm, because I don't know the costs of production, but I can say that it is an efficient company.

1) In my opinion, Ford is one of the best examples of how important is for a company to be effective and efficient at the same time. Ford's mission was to produce an automobile that everyone could afford, he wanted to make the car a commodity. He realized that in order to have profits he should think about customer satisfaction firstly. In order to satisfy the customers and also create value for himself, Ford would have to find the right tools. He continuously sacrificed profit margins to increase sales and also tested new methods to increase productivity. By doing these, Ford showed that he was doing things the right way, he was being effective. He also managed to be efficient by accelerating productivity's pace. Despite the criticism Ford has had over time, he managed to do the right things.
ReplyDeleteOnly by adapting to changing markets (which can mainly be done by being effective and efficient at the same time), you can survive over time and have a successful long-term company like Ford.
2) After watching "How it's made? Lego" video, I can say that the company is efficient because it can produce a great number of Legos in a very short amount of time, which means Lego company is using all the right tools to increase productivity. On the other hand, it's difficult to evaluate the effectiveness of Lego company because we don't have enough information on the quality, quantity, profit and their sales feedback.
Since Ford decided to start producing the model T he has surely always acted with effectiveness. Indeed he wanted to turn the automobile from a want into a need concept. He only began an efficient production process when he moved to highland park factory in 1910, then becoming an example of business that operates with economicità. Until 1924, model T had been what consumers looked for and wanted, but later on when people were demanding for new standards of cars and Ford refused to remodern their models production, he slowly stopped being effective, beacuse he was not listening to what customers were expecting form his firm. However , after he accepted the changing of the time Ford company faced the requests of the users and innovate their policy, being again effective and efficient.
ReplyDeleteThe chewingum making process is both efficient-since it involves great machinaries and an intelligent strategy-, and effective , since the product meets human wants.
1. As far as I am concerned,Ford Motor Company was always effective and efficency. There are a lot of excellent productions since it was created. It satisfy humen needs without pollute the enviroment. And it gives many people a place to work,to alive. What’s more,it helps the development of economic all over the word.
ReplyDelete2. After watching the video,I think it achieve its aim.because in my opinion,it satisfy humen needs and have nothing to destroy the environment.
1) When Ford first started to manufacture cars at the dawn of the 20th century, they built them with teams of engineers which wasn't really efficient or effective. That changed when they started producing the Model T, which applied to a larger market. Throughout the years the price on the car dropped and sales increased, meanwhile they improved their productivity by introducing the assembly line. Compared to their competitors they produced similar numbers of cars with far less employees. After 1924 Ford’s competitor General Motors started making inexpensive cars with amenities that exceeded the Model T. But Henry Ford refused to make a new car, so even though Ford was still efficient in their production they stopped being efficient when they decided not to follow the market and be ahead of everyone else.
ReplyDelete2) In the youtube video “How it is made Pencils” you can deduct that even though their production is still effective, by producing large numbers of pencils in a short time they are still fighting a losing battle. The sales of pencils are down and the users are using more comfortable options like computers or other electronic devices.
1. I think that Ford motor company was both effective and efficient in the year 1924 because in the past the company had only one of these criterions; in 1924 she was efficiency by producing 10 millions car of model T and also was effectiveness by reaching more people that mean that she satisfied more human needs.
ReplyDelete2. In the video that I choose: "How is made apple juice", the company is very effectiveness because the input of the company (capital, labour and of course apples) is not very expensive compares to the other companies, so the output is bigger and the company satisfied the human want to apple juice.
1) In my opinion ,comparing with the Ford motor company before 1924,it became more effective and efficient in many aspects. For example , Ford increased the workers ' income from 2.38 dollar to 5 dollar that improved the productivity of the workers,in the meanwhile ,it can enhance the living standards of workers to motivate them to hard work for company. So it is efficient. Although increased the income that made Ford's profit down,it achieved his dream : to make everyone possess a car .As far as am concerned, we can say that it is efficient .
ReplyDelete2) After watching the youtube vide "how is made baseball " , i consider that the manager should offer a good bonus system to motivate workers to work at full steam . for this it can improve the profits for company to get the target .We can say these are mutual .
1) In order to analyze the efficiency and the effectiveness of the Ford Motor Company, we should divide its production's "history" in three different parts. At the beginning of the 20th century, the company was both efficient and effective because Henry Ford was constantly interested not only in satisfying customers' needs, trying to make the car a commodity and so selling it for a very low price, but also in giving a job to a lot of employees and in improving their working condition. After the 1924, the company stopped to be effective, because, even if it maintained a good efficient production with the assembly line, Henry Ford decided not to listen and meet human needs anymore, and so, not to be competitive in the market and invest on a new advanced car models. At the end, the company understood that the right thing to do in order to survive and grow as an organization was to innovate their cars models, becoming efficient and effective again.
ReplyDelete2) Watching the video "how is made frozen fruit", I cannot say if the company is effective because I don't know if they are really satisfying human needs and so if they achieve their objective. We can just say that the company is efficient because of its production process, that is characterized by a convergence of handwork and mechanical one.
1.After producing model T ford motor company become efficient & effective. Henry ford start selling cars in low price & creat assembly line. After 1924 other competitor company start producing high qualities cars with reasonable price. But Henry ford didn't follow the market competition so they lose there efficiency .
ReplyDelete2.watching the video how to make hot dogs I think company is more efficient because they produce lot of hot dogs in a short time & total activity depends on machinery equipment . For producing method it is effective to satisfy human needs.
1)At the beginning of the 20th century, the Ford Motor Company was effective because Ford managed to reach is aim by producing cars, but it was not efficiency because the prices were to high so just rich people could buy his vehicles. In order to let everyone buy his cars, Ford started to work with efficiency when he reduced the work hours, the time of production and the prices of the automobiles. After 1924, Ford stopped working with effectiveness because he refused to innovate his cars, even if after some time the Ford Motor Company decided that, in order to improve and growth, it should modernize its vehicles, so it started again to work with effectiveness and efficiency.
ReplyDelete2) In the video How is made nuts, the company is working with effectiveness because it is reaching its aim, satisfying human needs with the production of nuts, and with efficiency because the production implies the use of many machines in order to reduce time
1) Ford Motor Company has gone through different phases over the years, which can be analyzed on the basis of the effectiveness and efficiency. At the beginning, the company produced expensive cars which had high profit margins but satisfied just a limited amount of people. Ford knew that he had to create an automobile whose price could be affordable to “the great moltitude” in order to increase sales: for this reason, he created the “Model T”, a car which for a long time had been perfectly in line with the standards of economicità. It fulfilled most of population’s needs and wants (a pleasing and cheaper model), and it was also produced in an efficient way: in fact Ford not only imported a metallurgist and bankrolled a still mill in order to utilize vanadium steel (which was the most resistant on market), but also built a more efficient factory and system that allowed to increase production by approximately 100% in each of the first three years, and to enlarge sales. Things changed when the simplification of the jobs created high turnover because of the employees’ dissatisfaction, a situation that forces the company to establish a minimun wage of five dollars per eight-hour day in order to remedy to the lack of efficieny: the effect was a greater productivity due to a happier and more motivated workforce, and the transformation of autoworkers into autocostumers. In spite of legal controversies, in 1921 Ford still held 60 percent of the new-car market, but the rising of a new competitors shed light on Ford’s lack of effectiveness: GM began to offer inexpensive Chevrolets with amenities that the Model T lacked, and Ford was not able to change its product in order to match costumer’s wants.
ReplyDelete2) I think bubble-gums business can be considered both efficient and effective. In fact it satisfies costumer's needs providing differenlty flavoured and coloured gums, and it also employees a system of production which uses several machineries and allow to increase the amount of outputs.
1) In my opinion the Ford Motor Company before 1924 was both efficient and effective, it was indeed operating with "Economicità". That is very simple to understand beacuse Ford's primary objective was to build a car for the multitude (satysfing people's needs) at a low price but he was also concerned about the materials he used like for instance the vanadium alloy that only him and the Frenchs did know how to make it, i.e. there were no competitors for him in the U.S. market. After 1924 Ford Motor Company was still efficient but not effective, since the costumers desired a new stylish and updated model; Ford though, was too attatched to his beloved Model T and couldn't keep up with the market.
ReplyDelete2) "HOW IT IS MADE FOOTBALL" I guess I have them. The Wilson factory can be considered effective because it satisfies "NFL" needs and also efficient beacuse the use of human capital and manufactured capital is reduced, for example Jim, the "turner", turns between 400 and 600 footballs per day.
1. Before 1924, Ford's company was extremely effective since, from its very beginning, it had been able to create a new need and to satisfy it. It was also efficient because the costs were lowered in order to maximize the profits and because of the moving assembly line. After 1924 Ford Motor Company was still efficient because it produced many cars, but it was no longer effective because it did not meet the new needs of customers.
ReplyDelete2. The video 'how is made hot dogs' gives me the possibility to say that the making process of hot dogs is very efficient since the production is carried out impressively quickly and with no waste of products and resources. It is also effective because thousands of packages of hot dogs are sold every day in the whole country.
ReplyDelete1) Focusing on Ford’s activity, we can distinguish different periods. At the very beginning of his activity, Henry Ford decided to change the world of cars: he did not want to produce cars just for the richest people that could afford them. He wanted to satisfy the multitude, he wanted to meet as many needs as possible without making low-quality products. He run his business thinking about the quantity of cars sold, instead of the profit obtained by a few, much more expensive cars. This was revolutionary because he deeply focused the attention to the strategic effectiveness of his company, transforming the automobile from a luxury to a necessity. Some time later, Ford realised that to increase the efficiency of the firm, to build a new factory was not enough. He had to create a new “system” to work. With the “assembly line” the operational efficiency reached its best: many costs were reduced (wages, number of employees..), much time was saved and the input-transformation-output process was almost perfect for that time. With the Model T, we can say that the company was completely working with Economicità (even if there were some problems with employees, that were then resolved) . But times change, and people's needs too. In 1924, General Motors started offering inexpensive Chevrolets with amenities that the Model T lacked. Styling suddenly counted to the customers. Ford was no longer working with effectiveness, and he risked his business. When he finally realised that the company was not meeting people's needs, the production changed, the Model T was abandoned, and the new Model A was born. He had to change his idea, because it was too old. In this way, Ford was working again both with efficiency and effectiveness, so with Economicità.
2) In the video “How it is made: pasta” there are some elements that can be analysed. I think that the company was working with strategic effectiveness: people's needs are satisfied, offering different shapes of pasta for different tastes. I cannot judge the quality of the products. In my opinion the firm was also quite efficient: human capital is scarce or totally absent, because it is not necessary. Moreover, there seems to be no waste of useful resources (inputs). The company is probably working with Economicità, but we would need more elements for a deeper analysis.
1) "I will build a motorcar for the multitude" Henry Ford proclaimed. Since 1906 he have conceived a new model of car that satisfy the effectiveness (allocate the available resources in order to meet human needs) and efficiency (the assembly line was cotinuously upgraded). After 1924 the model T doesn't satisfy anymore the new needs of users, beacause of competitors increase and model T was almost obsolete. Therefore the business activity doesn't have anymore the fondamental precondition : economicità. In order to survive and grow , his son create a modernized model that take care of the new needs of customer : Model A.
ReplyDelete2)After watching "how made its Baseball" i can say that there isn't enough elements to understand if the business activity is effective beacause i don't know if satisfy the companies needs. But i suppose that it is effective if 350 sewer produce eight to ten thousand balls per day.

ReplyDeleteWe can divide Ford’s life in two period, before and after 1924.
ReplyDeleteFord was similar to many other car companies the first years of his life. Production was efficient for the standard of the time and the main difference was the believe of Herny Ford: “the car for the multitude”.
After Ford started to produce through the Moving Assembly Line it became the only company EFFICIENT on the market while the other carmakers’s production style became outdated. Since the motto of Henry Ford didn’t change (car for the multitude) the company was also EFFECTIVE because satisfied the want (that was becoming a need) of the american middle class.
In 1924 something changed, others carmakers reached the level of efficiency of Ford but the owner didn’t wanted to start producing other kind of car since he thought Model T was the arrival point of the carmakers and not the beginning of the automotive industry.
We can say that from ’24 to ’27 Ford was not effective but it managed to change and becoming once again both effective and efficient.
In the video I saw they described the production process of the gasoline but I don’t know if I have enough elements to evaluate the strategic effectiveness of the firm (exxon).
Oil is Oil and Gasoline is Gasoline. It is strictly regulated and you cannot do a lot about it since you have also to produce what automakers want that is not necessarily the want of the people.

ReplyDelete1) In my opinion, before 1924, Ford motor company was both effective and efficient. Even though at first its cars were not affordable for anyone, Ford endeavoured himself to improve the quality of his company's products (improving the assembly line and workers' conditions) and do the possible to make his cars available to a greater range of consumers. He wanted to make his company as efficient as possible and at the same time a resource for the improvement of general well-being (with an eye to the profit his enterprise could earn). After 1924, things changed and Ford's company lost much of its effectiveness since he could not meet the customers' requirement anymore. The market wanted something new and innovative that could meet the customers' new demands, so Ford's company had to pass from the production of Model T to the production of the new Model A.
ReplyDelete2)After watching the video "How is made Baseball", I can say that the strategic effectiveness has already been achieved, creating affordable and worthy products that can satisfy users' needs.
1) Before 1924 Ford Motor Company was both efficient and effective. It was efficient because Henry Ford reduced the costs of production, using strategies like increasing the minimum wage, offering 5$ per day to his workers and introducing new production techniques with machineries that improved the efficiency of his company. Ford's company was also effective because he sold his cars at an affordable price, changing the car's market forever; Ford Motor Company sold 15'007'034 Model T in 19 years.
ReplyDeleteAfter 1924 the company was not so effective for some years, as Ford didn't develop ideas for new models, but then they came back at the top of the market with the successful Model A in 1927.
2) Watching the video "how it's made gold" I don't have the elements to evaluate the strategic effectiveness because only the production process is explained and so I can evaluate only the operational efficiency.
1)Until 1924 Ford Motor Company had always increased its effectiveness and efficiency; firstly produced a “car for the great multitude”, so easily affordable and that surely satisfied the costumer's needs. Secondly introducing much lighter and stronger materials, such as vanadium steel, so to create a simply, sturdy and “popular” car. Moreover to obtain a more satisfied workforce and to ensure the productivity of the workers, Ford announced a new minimum wage.
ReplyDeleteAfter 1924 new competitors started to appear, most of which more sophisticated and requested compared to Model T.
2) Watching the video (how is made- wigs) I don't have the elements to evaluate the effectiveness of the entity, since from the production process I can't assess the consumer's satisfaction.
1) Before 1924 Ford Motor Company was both effective and efficient. It was efficient for the strategies applied by Henry Ford, as he believed in maintaing enormous cash reserves, a policy that allowed him to plan a new facility for production of the Model T without interference or outside pressure. Moreover, he invented the moving assembly line, which showed a save of time. He recognized the human element in mass production, paying his workers with a minimum wage of 5 dollars per eight-hour day, as he believed that a happier workforce could lead greater productivity. Indeed the profit increased, and autoworkers became auto-costumers as they could afford it. It was even effective because he made a car that satisfied the needs of everyone and above all that everyone could afford. This meant a reduction in price, but saled increased, and as he could demonstrate even net income rose.
ReplyDeleteAfter 1924, the company became neither effective nor efficient. It was not effective anymore because Chevrolet won the competition against Ford, by creating cars that more satisfied human needs and that were even cheaper. Ford company was not efficient anymore because instead of managing this crisis situation in a good way, Highland Park factory was closed for 6 months and Henry sent his workers home so that he could start to design his next model.
2) After watching the video "how is made yogurt", I have not actually the elements to evaluate the effectiveness of this entity, because it doesn't speak about a specific fruit yogurt company (like Parmalat, Vitasnella etc.) , but the production in general.

Back to the time in which model T was not yet launched, in my opinion Ford company was neither effective nor efficient (if we divide wants from needs): a car was seen as a luxury affordable to very few people. With model T cars stopped to be a luxury and became a necessity: and gradually Ford company became effective. Concerning efficiency, so "doing things right", it was not efficient: thanks to the moving assembly line Ford increased alienation and workers were not happy. In 1914 there is a change, though. In order to make workers happier, Ford not only gave them benefits but also increased their wages. This strategy was a successful one: not only he made employees happier, but he increased the sales because workers could now afford a car! So it gradually became efficient, too. In 1924, however, it stopped being effective: Chevrolet now satisfied certain needs Ford didn't satisfy. Not being effective, the firm went through a crisis. But after this period of crisis Ford came back with a car that satisfied all needs (model A). So it achived effectiveness once again
ReplyDelete2. The youtube video I used in blog 3 is "how it is made toothpaste". I can't give a measure of effectiveness because I have no data on revenues (as revenues are the measure of effectiveness). However, in general, I can say that firms that produce toothpaste are effective: they satisfy a human need (and it is not only a need anymore: it is habit).
1) Before 1924 Ford Motor Company was a very good car company thanks to its effectiveness and efficiency. The customers had exactly what they want in the right way. Maybe at the beginning the prices were a little high but when they started to earn good profits they lowered the price so that everyone could buy a Ford.
ReplyDeleteIn the years after 1924, the competition was higher with a company called Chevrolet which satisfied people in a better way. This rivality brought Ford in a crisis that made them lost a lot of clients.
2) Watching the video "how pasta is made", I can say that they produce a lot of pasta in a short time. They can spend a little money so that they can resell their products with low prices. They satisfy human needs. So I can say that they are effective and efficient.

1) In my opinion, before 1924 Ford's Company was both effective and efficient, as it kept expanding and selling millions of car built in best way known at the time. After 1924 I think that Ford was neither efficient nor effective, because under both point of view it didn't want to adapt to market changes, to new technologies and didn't want to considerate its competitors. In fact, it turned out to have a crisis a few years later.
ReplyDelete2) If we consider only streategic effectiviness, I think that the company I chose in Blog 3, which is a Surfboard producer, is absolutely very effective. It sells a product within a market difficult to penetrate, creating the boards in a perfect and customized way, and it also managed to create a strong brand that secures its position in the market. My critic about that company was instead about the efficiency, and in particular about the supply chain.
Henry Ford has been the real dream-maker for every average American customer whom wanted to drive a car in the first years of 1900; however before 1924 his company was effective but not efficient and the introduction of the expensive model T in the market before that crucial year attest this issue. As a result of this industry’s paradox Ford changed his strategy thanks to the River Rouge factory, raising the wage of his employees and using updated and cheaper manufactured resources in order to increase the production of new and more affordable models which satisfied any category of customers. Putting aside the profits for a more efficient sell in the market, this new way allowed Ford and his company to compete with the other constructors making useful and innovative cars in a long term. After 1924 the coming of Chevrolet with brand new models and the fallout of the model T brought Ford and his company into a very deep crisis which forced him to close the factory for a considerable period. Further despite the 1929’s economic crash Henry Ford was able to save his company keeping the Ford Motor Company as one of the biggest example of efficient and effectiveness business entity in the history.
ReplyDeleteIn the youtube video “How it’s made Lego” we can quietly crosscheck both efficiency and effectiveness thanks to an optimized, qualified and mechanical production which makes a very considerable number of outputs within reduced costs. This firm has always satisfied its customers placing in the market the finest and most entertaining toys always for a very affordable price and I’m sure that Lego will maintain this asset in order to achieve the amusement the next generation of customers addicted to toys.
1. Ford's company, before 1924, was effective. the company was producing cars in a vey high level and in affordable prices that everybody wanted, in 1921 it began to be also efficient thanks to the factory in river rouge. in 1924, ford understood that he needed to give something new to the pubic because there was a new cars around, so he's company in that time wasn't effective and also not efficient because he send everybody home and stopped the producing of cars. only after the planning of a new model the factory came back to work, or in another words, it has become effective and efficient again.

ReplyDelete1) Henry Ford's company, before 1924, was both efficient and effective, in my opinion. The efficiency of the company was given from some Henry Ford genial ideas such as reducing the costs of production, introducing new production techniques with more modern machineries that improved the efficiency of production and he also adopted clever business strategies to improve the efficiency of his workers, by increasing the wages and other things like this. The availability and the cheap price of Model T were the main strenghts of Ford's market, so for this reason it was also effective. He changed the trend of car market of the those years.
ReplyDeleteAfter 1924, the lack of new ideas brought Ford company to be not so effective as it used to be, but Ford had the idea for a new model of car, model A, which brought him at the top of the market again.
2) I do not have the means to evaluate the strategic effectiveness the video "how cars are made" because they only show the building process, so i could only judge the efficiency, but also in this case i would not have the right competences to do it.
ReplyDelete1. I think that before !924, the Ford Motor Company, was efficient and effective, because it satisfied the costumer's needs and because Henry Ford though also to the stakeholders of the firm. Later, after 1924, the company had still an efficient production, and lost her effectiveness, but it's like the owner changed the objective of the firm because he didn't meet human needs and didn't innovate the production of his cars anymore.
2. After watching the "how is made books" video, I can say that the company operates with strategic effectivness because the product is something useful and is able to satisfy human needs

1)According to the "Henry Ford" case, I personally think that his company before 1924 was effective but not efficient. Indeed he was the first to consider cars not as a luxury, but as a necessity. He sold so many cars that the Model T, in 1921, held the 60% of the new-car market. He wasn’t efficient because to make cars more affordable he had to sell them at lower prices.
ReplyDeleteAfter 1924 Henry Ford’s company wasn’t effective nor efficient. He wasn’t ready to improve his business, changing the Model T, so he wasn’t able to be in step with progress.
2) According to the video ‘how is made german beer’, I personally think that the factory satisfies human needs hence we can say that it is effective. It can be considered efficient because it has no waste of supplies at all and the production process is shortened as much as possible.

ReplyDelete1) Ford's company, before the 1924, operated with an extremely high productivity, that means with great efficiency. He sacrificed profit in order to increase sales creating a car which was affordable for the mass. Mr. Ford made the automobile a necessity and no more a luxury. He reduced the work hours and gave his employees a satisfactory reward. So he did the right thing to do and the right thing .
ReplyDeleteNevertheless, after 1924, Ford's company was still efficient but it was no more effective, because the costumer's view and demand was changed but Henry Ford did not want to replace his model T and consequently he did not meet the current need anymore. After all, Not to fail and to survive, he decided to change his organization and in that way it rose up again by meeting the new needs of costumers .
2) From my perspective , watching the "How is made Tabasco" video, i can not exactly know if the company is totally effective but for sure it is because with that product it satisfy human needs and offers something particular, different and well done in the grocery market.
1)Henry Ford succeeded in creating the car which had revolutionised the entire automotive segment, the Model T; it was both effective, in fact there's been sold about 15 millions vehicle for accomplishing to all the Americans needs, and efficient, thanks to the so-called "Fordism", his new concept of production of cars which he brought to life in his factories. Thanks to his genius Henry Ford set up a very efficient industry which produced a very effective item, his idea of the moving assembly line had allowed the company to reduce building times so that they could make almost 3 cars in place of only 1 and his idea of cutting costs allowed to have bigger revenues and to conquer a bigger market share. He was always looking for new methods which would have increased the productivity of Highland Park factory and will have made the production even more efficient than it was just 'till before, we can say that he wanted to produce an item for everybody making it become very popular and the result was that the totality of his revenues were higher than the sum of the revenues of every single car sale. After 1924 Ford's lost the train of the future and went on producing the T-model which was old by now, in this way his industry was now efficient but not effective and customers began to prefer new and more comfortable cars. Since 1927 with the production of Model A the Ford's industry got back to be both efficient and effective, started regaining a huge share in the market.
ReplyDelete2)Yes. It can be said that the production of the honey follows the "strategic effectiveness" guidelines, in fact honey is a product which a lot of people use and moreover in its production there are secondary products produced, like bee wax or others...so we can say that this production is also efficient because the all of the products are used and not wasted.
1) Before 1924 the Ford Motor Company was both, efficient and effective; it was effective because the Model-T was a new idea that satisfied human needs. This car had to be cheap so that everyone could buy it and thanks to this, the car became an important human necessity. On the other hand the Henry Ford company was very efficient thanks to some important factors that, in my opinion, were: the use of the vanadium steel, the minimum wage of 5$, the work hours that were reduced, the assembly line and the capacity to produce the cars from raw materials in just forty one hours.
ReplyDeleteAfter 1924 the efficiency was still good, but the Ford Motor Company was not effective anymore. As we know the ones that are holding a company have to observe the outsides, because needs can change in the time; in fact the Model T after 1924 was not a need anymore and other companies produced other cars that were more comfortable and satisfied better the costumers needs. So the solution was to develop a new idea.
2) Yes, because the most important things to be effective are:
- have a good idea that satisfies human needs
-and be the first to realize it.
Nutella is the first chocolate spread that you could buy at a low price in a big quantity and that is why this product is so effective.
1) During the history the Ford Motor Company hasn't been always efficient and effective. In fact before the 1924 the company had been more effective than always thanks to the idea of Henry Ford (the owner of the company) of producing the Model T: a car that wouldn't be only accessible to richest people of the country (like it was until 1901) but also to the medium class, satisfying one of the most important need of the multitude. The time passed and things changed and in 1924 other car companies started producing electric vehicles enriched with more comfortable needs asked by the customers but Ford didn't want to refresh his product and so the effectiveness started getting worst. Efficiency was still good but in that period the company just needed to develop new projects to become once again the first car company in the US.
ReplyDelete2) In the video "How is made Lego" we can see the effectiveness of the company and judging by the results of its production we can surely say that Lego is one of the greatest company in the world for efficiency and effectiveness.
In my opinion, during his entire history, Ford Motor Company hasn't been always both Effective and Efficient. Before the 1924, this company, in order to increase sales, created a car which was affordable for the mass. Mr. Ford changed the vision of the car utility: no more as luxury but as a necessity. This is the period when the Ford Motor Company was more Effective. After 1924 the outputs of this company, didn't satisfy anymore the needs of users, beacause competitions increased. In order to survive and grow , Ford's son created a modernized model that take care of the new needs of customer. This is the period when the Ford Motor Company was more Efficient.
ReplyDeleteIn the video "how is made German Beer" I think that the factory is already effective because it reaches its aim: Giving a good beer to every costumers. It is also efficient because the transformation process is focused on "make a good beer in the right way"
The Henry Ford Company was , in my opinion, a great example of effectiveness and efficiency. They managed to introduce this model of car achieving the satisfaction of a low/medium class , obtaining also a profit thanks to the amount of selling.
ReplyDeleteThe reason why he reached great percentage of selling was the creation of The model T , the car of the multitude.
IN the video How it's made hot dog, I think the factory is effectiveness and efficiency too.
ReplyDelete1) At the very beginning of model T's production Ford Motor Company achieved the ability to be effective, as it produced useful goods, which satisfied the needs of medium/low citizens who could not afford the model N. But it didn't manage to do it with so much efficiency. However when he introduced the new method in the new Highland Park factory he started to increase the production year by year. The efficiency was completely reached with the innovative moving assembly line which allows to drop the assembly time from twelve hours, thirty minutes to five hours, fifty minutes. The new method needed fewer and less skilled workers, thus the wages could be kept low and the cars could continue to be sold at low prices. After 1924 Ford Motor Company wasn't effective because it didn't keep up with inexpensive Chevrolets' innovation. Refusing to replace Model T Henry Ford failed to meet the changed need of customers that asked for more sophisticated cars.
2) After watching “how bowling ball is made” I think that the economic entity is already working with strategic effectiveness. Indeed, as time goes by, it changed the materials of which the core and ball itself are made in order to produce lighter-wight balls, from stone to wood to rubber and finally to the moulded polyester.
Henry Ford is believed to have had effectiveness and efficiency in the economy entities of his organisation.I would say it takes determination to get to such level and stage in life and which he did.in the early stages of his life he was humiliated and people thought he was crazy but he believed in what he wanted .He didnt want anything into the price of Model T except good value. He was not a selfish person focusing onthe profit but he considered two sets of people his workers and his customer by decreasing price and increasing the payment of the unskilled employers valuing them more by making them happy resulting to doubling in the profit of the company from 30 million to 60 million between 1914-1916.In 1914 13,000 workers at his company made 260,720 cars by comparison it took 66,350 workers to make 286,770 cars.Even when his partners failed him he didnt fail himself .He was a person if he could get the trust of his customer then he will make it.he had some challenges and needed to come up with a new project so he had to stop.but still his son took over with a new name module A and it went very well one again
ReplyDelete2)i choose "how honey is made"its effective because its a natural source of production which has being helpful to mans system, tastes great and its natural .No artifical or chemical substance added to it.

Henry Ford's company is still nowadays known as the company who made the car accessible to the middle class citizen. This has been possible thanks to a very good production process which allowed the company to produce with economicità, therefore with strategic effectiveness and operational efficiency the product who would have satisfied the mass desire at the time, the automobile. This is proven by the fact that in 1914 with only 13000 workers Mr. Ford's company was able to produce 260,272 car per year when in the rest of the industry it took 66,350 workers to make 286,770 cars. this extraordinary production model made the T-model themost popular car at the time. Unfortunately the T model came to an end when chevrolet became very competitive in the market beside the fact that Henry Ford didn't want to take care of the general and task environmental changings. Once he finally decided to lead its company through the market changing Edsel and Ford elaborated the model A which placed the company o sound footing again increasing the econimicità of the method of production again.
ReplyDeleteHow hot dogs are made
Studying the video on how hot-dogs are made it's possible to say that the entire production is lead with strategic effectiveness and operational efficiency and it is already a very good production process. Anyway what might be improved is the speed through which the hot dogs go through the channels or also the size of the container in which the meat is mixed so that it would be possible preparing more meat at the same amount of time in order to increase the efficiency of the production.

ReplyDeleteIt is not more effective and efficient. In their earlier, they produces cars for average class people. But then he kept on focusing sales than profit .After 1924 ford's campany wasn't that effective as it was in beggining b/c he didn''t concentrate on competition in market.

Acording to that vedio "HOW COCA COLA IS MADE" .I think it has already reached its aim .They are working properly.cola cola is one of major bought soft drinks.now it is very hard to evaluate the effectiveness of coca cola company.
-An example of efficient and effectiveness was Ford that with the "model T" ceases to be something reserved for a very small elite of wealthy , creating a useful and versatile means of individual mobility affordable for all budgets and lived up to all the demands. After 1924, it was still efficient but not effectiveness because Ford was not able to change its product in order to satisfy costumer’s wants and needs that other competitive firms were doing it.
ReplyDelete-Watching the video "how pasta is made"I can say that they are effective and efficient because they produce a lot of pasta with little money and in a short time because they use simple and cheap first material; so they resell the final products with low prices. In thi way they satisfy human needs.

ReplyDelete1_ Before 1924 Ford Motor Company was effectiveness because it was able to build a car for the multitude decreasing the price of their newest product: the Model T, for example by using products such the vanadium steel, which made the car lighter, it was easy to drive and satisfied customer's needs. The efficiency of the Company was reached just after the introduction of the new method of production in Highland Park factory because the number of cars produced highly increased more every year. After 1924 the Company wasn't effective no more because they didn't keep up with the customers' needs as they weren't competitive with other new products.
2_ In the video "Wilson Football Factory" it is shown both strategic effectiveness and efficiency because of the cooperation of the workers to produce each ball with the same high standards and method in the shortest possible time. This firm it's efficient and perfectly satisfy their buyer as the NFL uses only their footballs.

ReplyDelete1) There are a lots of ups and downs regarding both the efficiency and the effectiveness of Ford Motor Company before and after the year 1924. Before 1924, in my opinion Ford's decisions brought the company in operating into Economicità(changing materials, giving higher wages, lesser dividends...), that means the company is both effective and efficient at the same time, but as the article stated, this was not easy for the company, Henry Ford had to take many risks for the company. After the year 1924, unfortunately, many competitors entered and the company had to face many difficulties, because of the innovations other competitors introduced, at first H. Ford made a wrong decision, he didn't want to change his model T, but fortunately he changed his mind and accepted to make another car and this decision saved his company.
ReplyDelete2) On the video(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KY1rE_Ncasc), it is hard to tell if the company is being effective or efficient because it only describe the production of the product and not the result and also the progress of the company isn't mentioned.
1)Before 1924,the Ford Motor Company was both effective and efficient because it satisfied human needs. In fact,Henry Ford's ambition was to make a car for the great multitude. He wanted to build a high-quality automobile that would be affordable to everyday people. Mr Ford made the automobile a necessity and not a luxury. On the other hand, after 1924,the efficiency was stil good, but it wasn't effective anymore, because he didn't pay attention to the changing environment . In this way,Ford didn't see that the needs were changing and that other companies were producing more useful and comfortable cars.
ReplyDelete2) Watching the video "how a lipstick is made" I can say that they are effective and efficient because they have their own internal laboratories,in order to decrease their costs and to have a control of the quality of the product.
1) According to me before 1924 Ford worked in an efficient and effective way. He was able to: create good cars for everyone, without using expensive materials, selling them with a low price and to offer a good working condition for his employees . After 1924 Ford lost his efficiency due to the fact that he didn't mind anymore about custmers' needs and for this reason Chevrolet took his place .
ReplyDelete2) About the video "how coca cola is made" it's obvious that this company works bot efficiently and effectively due to their organized and careful work and the good price of the product.

ReplyDelete2) About the video "how coca cola is made" it's obvious that this company works bot efficiently and effectively due to their organized and careful work and the good price of the product.
1) In the first years of Ford, his cars surely satisfied the customer's needs but, at the same time, they were sold at high prices, so they were a luxury car for just a small part of the population. So Ford was working with effectiveness but without efficiency. When the model "T" came out, Ford Motor Company met the people's need ensuring a lower price, transforming the car from a luxury to a necessity. So until the 1924, Ford motor company was efficient and effective. After 1924, the Ford company started a period of economic crisis for the strong competition of other car companies. People were looking for new standards of cars and Ford refused to remodern their models production, and so he slowly stopped being effective but still remaining efficient in the production process. After all, the company understood that in order to satisfy human needs and wants the right thing to do was to innovate their cars models and so becoming effective and efficient again.
ReplyDelete2) For what concern the YouTube video discussed in Blog3, “how is made movable field irrigation systems”, it is possible to say that the economic entity is effective but I am not able to say if it is efficient or not. It is effective because it is producing one of the most important needs that people use: irrigation systems.
- Before the year 1924, Ford Motor company was effective because they were having a good impact in the society and efficient after Henry Ford arise the payments of workers to five dollars per 8 hour day, but before 1913 it was not efficient because unskilled workers didn’t enjoy their job and productivity was affected.
ReplyDelete- After the year 1294, Ford Motor was being efficient because the productivity was good but it was not being effective because in the market, Chevrolet was starting to dominate. This means that people started buying Chevrolets because they had new features that Ford didn’t, this forced Henry Ford to make an innovation in his productions. After December 1927, Model A was introduced into the market and they started gaining sales back again.
1- At the early begging, Henry Ford was able to produce cars with effectiveness, but without efficiency, because even if he wanted to satisfy his customers' needs, he sold his cars at a very high prices. In fact, only rich people could buy those cars. Then, before 1924, he understood that the best thing to do was to build motorcars for the "multitude". For this reason, he decided to work both with efficiency and effectiveness, and this was possible thanks to the creation of "Model T", a very cheap car which transformed the automobile from a luxury to a necessity. Ford became the first motorcars' company to build cars for the entire society. After 1924, an economic crisis began, because many others competitors built similar cars with new innovative features at the same price of Model T, so people started buying those other cars. Henry Ford refused to remodernate his car because he thought that Model T was the best one, but it brought to an effectiveness' decrease.
ReplyDelete2- According to the YouTube video that I discussed in Blog3, "How it's made copy paper", I cannot say if the economic entity is working with effectiveness, because I do not know if it is able to satisfy people's needs, even if I suppose that it will do. However I can say that the economic entity is working with efficiency because with few row materials, it can produce a lot of copy paper.
a) By reading this article, we can understand that the ford motor company, during its life, it has not always been both effective and efficient. With the adoption on the vanadiam steel, and the introduction of the assembly line, for example, it became more efficient. On the other side, thank to a lower selling price for the model T and an higher wage for the company's employees, it became more effective, bacause everyone who really wanted to buy a car could do it. After 1924, the situation was different because the model T was obsolet and no longer met customers' needs.
ReplyDeleteb) Talking about the video I discussed in blog 3, I think I don't have enough informations to judge if the firm operates with total efficiency and effectiveness. For example, I couldn't say if the way to pick up oranges is the most efficient one, because even if it's fast, it's also more expensive to buy such a machinery. About the effectiveness of the firm, it's difficult to say if this OJ satisfies customers'needs and wants. For sure, the controls they make before and after the production, can be a good way to evaluate the quality of this drink.
1) In 1910 Henry Ford's automobile factory and Model T were already very effective but not quite efficient. Effective because the model T was creating great value for the company and satisfying evermore customers. It still wasn't efficient because there was still much that could be done to maximize productivity and minimize expenses. This was done through continuous improvement of the factory by implementing conveyor belts, work slides, roll ways etc and by increasing the minimum wage. At this point in time Ford was effective and efficient with his customers and within the firm. In 1924 the market shifted, styling and excitement became the main interest of buyers. The company was still efficient but lost its effectiveness. Henry Ford was in denial and refused replacing the model T. Only after 2 years of sales continuing to plummet Ford realized his mistake and with the help of his son developed the model A, recovering the effectiveness it had lost and retaining it for years to come.
ReplyDelete2) According to the YouTube video that I discussed in Blog3 "How it's made Bacon). Yes I find the firm to be effective but want to emphasize that with an increased velocity of processing, packging etc (efficiency), the risk of errors/mistakes by workers increases, therefore the quality of the product could be compromised (effectiveness).
1) Henry Ford was attracted by cars since he was a child. He firmly believed that his inventions would revolutionize the world. That's why he has so much success: people began to believe in what he believed. Even if the story of his production has been through different periods, he transformed the nation's way of life, he understood the key of selling his creations: he transformed the automobile itself form luxury to a necessity. In a first moment he started to not produce only for rich people but he tried to make the price affordable for everyone. In fact, he started to think more about the quantity of cars sold than the profit obtained. This show us how Ford change his strategy, focusing on effectiveness. Later with the "assembly line" many problems were solved, many cost were reduced and the company start to work even with efficiency. So we can say that in that period the company was working with both efficiency and effectiveness, so with "Economicità". After this period Henry Ford decided not meet human needs anymore and to not produce new innovative car models. In doing this, he put in danger his company but at the end, he understood that the best thing to do was to abandoned the Model T, change the way of working and go head. The model A born and the company start to work with Economicità again. This is a clear example of how much is important changing the way of thinking and working as the environment do.
ReplyDelete2) Watching the video "How is made wine", I don't have the right elements to evaluate the work of the company but I can affirm that wine still meet people needs and is it sold all over the world every day. The quantity sold depends, of course, on the relationship quality-price.
1)in my opinion, before 1924, Ford motor company was effective and efficient at the same time. this is because Henry Ford was concerned both in satisfying customers'needs through a very low selling price and in improving workers working conditions and usinig an assembly line for his production to get a more efficient environment. After the 1924,Ford wasn't meeting human needs as it used to, not investing in new car models, loosing its effectiveness. as the company started feeling the pressure of competitors, it decided to innovate its cars in order to recover its effectiveness and efficncy.
ReplyDelete2)basing my knoledge of stainless-stell production on the video, i cannot really tell whether if the company is operating with strategic effectiveness or not. however, i do know that this kind of economic entities conduct their production on demand. hence, it is really difficult that part of the production will be wasted rather then beeing sold to the customer.
-1 In my opinion at the beginnig of it history the production process of the model T was effective and not efficient, but the production process of model T was very effeicient for the time. In 1924 Ford decided to became effective in the market and with the creation of the model T, a very cheap vehicle, the automobile was traformed from luxury to a necesity and satisfied the customers' needs.
ReplyDelete-2 As regards my opinion the production of mannequins can be both effective that effincient because the product is created in an industrial manner with a well defined process of realization. So the company tries to satisfy the demands of customers in the effective and efficient way.
In my opinion until 1924 Ford company was both effective and efficient because the model ''T'' satisfied people's needs with its low price and because of the use of an assembly line for its production. After 1924, other companies entered in the motor market and Ford started to feel the competition; people were looking for new luxury cars but Ford was too attached to his ''T'' model and didn't want to modernize it , and so the company stopped being effective but still remaining efficient. But at the end Ford understood that in order to satisfy customers' needs he had to innovate cars and so the company became effective again.
ReplyDeleteAfter watching the You Tube video ''How is made ketchup'' i can't evaluate exactly if the company that produce ketchup is effective because in the video we can see only the transformation process, but because of the notoriety of the product and its spread all over the world i can firmly say that this entity is effective.
Before 1924 Ford company was both effective and efficient because the "Model T", efficiently produced using an assembly line by Ford itself, met the customers' needs because of its low price, attainable by people who couldn't afford the model N. After 1924, Ford starts to feel the threat of competitors in the motor market. Indeed, customers are now satisfied by the Chevy model (Chevrolet company), because the market is evolving and the demand is for modernized automobiles, the Ford company remains faithful to the "Model T" so it stops to be effective. In the end Ford understands the importance to keep in touch with the trend of demand of customers and with their particular needs and it re-starts to be effective.
ReplyDelete2.) After have watched the video "how is made soap" in blog 3, I don't have enough elements to evaluate the strategic effectiveness of the entity because the video doesn't show the impact on the market of that particular product of that particular firm.
1- Ford's purpose, ever since he first instituted his firm, was mainly driven by social purposes instead of the idea of profit; as a matter of fact, he wanted to make a car for the "multitude" and not only for the little rich part of society who could afford it at the time. In doing so, he systematically lowered the price of the Model T to an astonishing $99 in 1914. As for efficiency and effectiveness, we can say that the Model T, the car related to Ford's success in the automotive market, was made of a special vanadium alloy, from which he took the idea from some French companies; and the results were an increase in resistance (it would never break), and it was much lighter comparing to the finest steel alloys used at that time for auto-mobiles. Therefore, before 1924, given the fact that he also increased productivity due to the "high-man", thanks to which, workers were not required to leave their work places for their job; Ford's company was both efficient (he used his resources at the best) and effective (he met the needs and wants of the society in lowering consistently the price of the car). After 1924, however Ford could not keep the pace, that the Chevrolet company was imposing, in order to keep most of the market percentage, and the sales of the Model T were decreasing, as a sign that the wants of the society started to evolve towards Chevrolet's side (therefore Ford was not much efficient).
ReplyDelete2- As for "How is made glass blocks" we don't have much information on the strategic effectiveness of the firm, but we can say that there is no waste of resource (in fact, the firm mainly uses recycled glass) resulting in efficiency in managing the resources; and also it does still satisfy the demands of the society

ReplyDelete1) In my opinion, Ford is one of the best examples of how important is for a company to be effective and efficient at the same time.
1) Before 1924, Henry Ford's company was both efficient and effective. The main reason is because he was able to satisfy many consumer's needs with his Model T. which was a reliable and economic car that suited the majority of consumers. After 1924, the company was forced to make some changes in order to survive. Many wanted a new model that would satisfy the needs of the wealthier consumers, but Henry Ford didn't want to replace the Model T. In 1927, with the help of his son, he was able to save the company from going bankrupt by making the Model A.
ReplyDelete2) The efficiency of "Lego" is high because of the mass production of its product. There isn't enough information on the video to evaluate the effectiveness of the company. I can only assume that it's very effectve because it's been around for so long.

ReplyDelete1)At the beginning of the 20th century the Ford Motors Company was both effective and efficient because Henry Ford satisfied the customers wants and needs. With the innovative idea of the Model T, Ford make the car an important human necessity. Before the car was a luxury, Ford understood that the mass needed automobiles. Few years later Ford's company wasn't efficient because it doesn't adapted to the market changes and to the new emerging technologies.
ReplyDelete2) According to the video "How it's made-Lego", I think that the company operates with strategical effectiveness and operational efficiency because of the quality of the final products, and the phases of the 24 hours per day production.
Ford´s company was both effective and efficient, because he didn´t only pursue his dream but at the same time he was trying to make his vehicles more beneficial and affordable to all members of middle class society, including the employees. He wasn´t just considering to maximize his profit but he was working for social well-being.
ReplyDelete1 - In my opinion Ford's company became both effective and efficient when Henry Ford become to introduce some innovative ideas. .he reduced the cost of production, the hours of working, introduse a new kind of steel for making his cars, (cheaper and better than before ) and also his cars was afordable for the people. .at the beginning he sacrificed his profits to sell more cars ... by selling more cars the company revenue and profits increased. . After the year 1927 the Ford's company become less efficient ...further on with the introduction of the other company's on the market they also become less effective. ..
ReplyDelete2- I do think that the honey producer company is operating in an effective way. They are able to answer to various costumers demands by transforming their resources in various products and also they are answering to higher honey demand thanks to the ability to storage honey during surplus periods.
1-As the concept of economicita' defines it, a company is operating with effectiveness when it is able to create a product that meets the target customers' needs, allowing the company itself to achieve competitive advantage in the market and to obtain revenue. Moreover, it is necessary that the production is carried out efficiently, i.e. getting the most output with the least amount of input. So, as we see, Ford's company had achieved both before 1924 ("improving the assembly line so that the Model T could be produced even more inexpensively"; using vanadium steel which is far lighter than the ordinary steel ; creating a motorcar everybody could afford; developing an endless chain driven conveyor and a man high line which led the production to increase dramatically with least workers involved, etc.)
ReplyDeleteAfter 1924,General Motors was not focused on efficiency, neither had an advantage over competitors. Furthermore, Ford was not willing even to accept replacing the Model T which led to closing the Highland park factory for 6 months and to the end of production for Model T.
2-Having chosen the video "How it's made-fruit-flavoured yogurt" I think it is not possible to evaluate the effectiveness because we do not observe a certain entity example, rather we see how it is made in general. We do not know what is the demand for it, whether it is more preferable than another brand, what does it offer more than the competitors (more jam, lower expiry date, lower price, bigger package, etc).
a) Henry Ford, at the beginning, was not very efficient producing cars at a very high prices, so only few people, the richiest, could buy those cars. Before 1924 he understood that "democratize" the automobile was the best choice, so he decided to reduce the cost of his product starting to work with effienciency and effectiveness thanks to the creation of "Model T". After 1924, because of many competitors, a crisis began and in 1926 the Ford's factories remained closed for six months but he was able to survive to it and, as we know, he built one of he most important carmaker.
ReplyDeleteb) For what concerns the "HOW IT IS MADE- PAINTBALLS", discussed in the blog 3, I think that the azienda is actually working with efficiency and effectiveness: they are selling in a good market; in the video it is shown that the production process is minimalized as much as possible and no resources are wasted.
The Ford company started from an idea of Henry Ford: he wanted to produce cars for masses, thus with a cheap selling price. Doing it he reduced the gross profit of the company, but with a cheap price he took a larger piece of market and sells increase.
ReplyDeleteThrough the new Assembly lain he improved a lot the efficiency of the firm, but after several years(after 1924) others car's companies invested more on technological resources and increased their efficiency more than ford.
Ford has been always great in the effectiveness, because they produced and produce cars that satisfy people needs and wants but after 1924 their efficiency decrease.
After watch How is made plastic I don't have all the elements to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the plastic company. I'd need of more data about the transformation process and cost of input and prices of output.
Anyway today plastic's company invest a lot on the recycling of materials. in this way they satisfy stakeholders interests about environment task and increase their gross margin reducing the input's cost.
Analyzing the actions of Ford Company since its birth and after the 1924 it is possible to identify different ways of acting; precisely if the company was acting with Economicità. I think that the Ford company had always been efficient, due to the use of modern materials, the assembly line and also the minimum wages for workers, and with the launch of the model T, "the car for the multitude " , Ford started to be effective too, satisfying the needs also for the middle class. But Tom Ford was too much proud of his invention that he didn't realize that year by year costumers required more fancy cars so that the Model T started to be obsolete. This happened after 1924 and leading the Ford Motor Company to be still efficient but no more effective because didn't satisfy human wants and needs anymore. The situation changed with the launch of the new Model A that seemed to be a great success letting the Company to be effective again.
ReplyDeleteAfter watching the video "how is made carved candle" I'm not able to specify whether the organization acts with effectiveness or not,but since the art of carved candles is just for a few of connoisseurs and lovers and also create pieces by request and so it is an organization of handicrafts I might say that the organization works with effectiveness.
Before 1924 the ford cars are efficient and effective also it can be used only by the few members of the society which can pay high costs, they have the customers they concentrate mor eon customers later they also concentrated on the employees by increasing the wages, later on they reduced the cost of the cars so that all the members of the society can use the cars
ReplyDeletethe vedio "How is hot dog made" it is using the complete resources they are not wasting resources the product is both effecient and effective
1.Ford had a big matter to face: We wanted to transform cars in a good that (almost) any consumer could afford. At the beginning its cars were really expensive, he chose to decrease the cost of cars and increase the salary of the employees to encourage them to work hardly to face the increase of orders. The next year his income was doubled. In conclusion i would say that ford has always been both effective and efficient, adapting its production to a quickly changing market .
ReplyDelete2.It’s quit difficult to say according to the video ( how it’s made kitchen knives) if the firm is operating efficientrly end effectively, according to what I have seen, I can say that it may be effective because the presenter keeps saying that the brand is well known in the knives world. About the effectiveness I would say that it actually work effectively considering the use of raw material and the quick line of production, but we should also analyze what they do with steel wastes to answer in safety to this question.
1) Henry Ford idea were important thanks to his new value and the adaptation of the situation and what he had.
ReplyDeleteIt was good only when the idea was applied in the righteous moment.
The expenses car was deleted by strategy of mass production.
2) it's not effective because even if it's a good idea, there is no way about wasting it.

In my opinion, Ford Motor Company reached Economicita( effective and efficient ) because they pursed a good way (reducing working hours and employees) to reach the maximize the company's profits.
ReplyDelete2) How is made honey? I will purse a reward system for worker who can took the best and quantities and qualitative of honey.
I think that ford's company is efficient and effective as he wasn't only looking for the production of a car with high standards but he was looking for different ways not just to make the car better but also to make it affordable for average citizen .For example the production of the internal combustion engine.Another important note was the fact that he didn't invent the automobiles or the assembly line yet recast each to dominate a new era .These examples prove not just the efficiency but also the effectiveness of the company .although at first the company was just efficient in 1900's .Ford found his ways to make it both efficient and effective after 1924
ReplyDelete1)I believe that we can divide two time periods to establish if the Ford Motor Company operated with Economicità .Before 1924, Ford was both effective and efficient, it satisfied human need producing what customers wanted at an affordable price at with an high quality of the inputs. After 1924, the market became much more competitive and Ford did not operate as before, reducing effectiveness, as people were demanding for something more and something new and Ford Motor Company was not able to provide this to costumers.
ReplyDelete2)On the video “How it's made- Golf balls” the I discussed on Blog 3, there are not all the elements to say if it operates with strategic effectiveness as it is not mentioned how resources are allocated and what kind of products are used in the process, if they are useful or not, and if consumers expectations are met.
